You Beauty Discovery Box- June 2017 Review

About the box
It's a bit different from most beauty subscriptions. You get a menu at the beginning of every month, and you choose from that what you want to receive that month. You usually get a couple of extra sachet type samples thrown in too.

Price
There are three membership levels.

  • Pick two products a month for £6.95
  • Pick three products a month for £8.95
  • Pick four products a month for £10.95
What I got
This month I dropped down to Bronze level membership, partly because I'm trying out other subscriptions, partly because I haven't really liked a lot of what You Beauty have offered lately. It's been so skincare heavy and this month was no different. There were some accessory type items thrown in so that softened the blow a bit but I'm definitely glad I went for the lower tier membership.

The first item I chose was the Merci Handy Refreshing Face Mist in the scent Hello Sunshine (full size, 30ml, £5.00). This is a face mist for refreshing and cooling during sticky summer months. I like the scent- it's kind of like sweetness mixed with a slightly, pleasant sun cream smell. I'm not very good at describing scents but that's the closest I could think of! Merci Handy products are made in France and paraben free. I will probably use this, although I'm not sure if I'd pay £5 for a dinky bottle.

The other item I chose was this set of Kitsch Secret Garden Knotted Hair Ties (full size, set of 5, £6.97). I love ties like these, they look so pretty in your hair or round your wrist and the decorations on them are beautiful. I like that I've been introduced to another brand besides Popband as well. These will get a lot of use, if I can stop my cat stealing them for impromptu games of fetch (he's weird).

Finally, there were the usual little samples that You Beauty throw in every month. The We Are Tea Alert Get Going Tea Bag will be put to good use as I'm pretty sleepy quite a lot of the time (I think I may be part cat myself). And then there was a teeny tiny sachet sample of Organii High Protection Sun Milk which may cover one of my ears and a well protected ear that will be.

Final thoughts
While this box didn't wow me, it always delivers something that I will use well. I think this subscription is on slightly shaky ground but it's not an imminent cancellation. I'll see how the next few months go. If you're very into skincare I would say this is your ideal box for sure.
