Dollibox- June 2017 Review

Dollibox

About the box
Dollibox is a beauty subscription where you will receive five full sized or 'deluxe' sized beauty products every month from both well known brands and more niche ones. Everything is a surprise- unlike many subscription boxes they do not reveal any of the contents beforehand.

Price
£10/month, plus £3.90 P&P

What I got
I had been eyeing up Dollibox for a while when they posted on Instagram that you could get your first box for £6.99 (or thereabouts). Obviously I screeched with excitement like the lady I am and then went for it. I love the dinky little pink box it came in, it really matches the name 'Dollibox' I think.

Pro Range Mermaid Makeup Brush

The first item I pulled out is my favourite by far, and I think you can see why. This is the Pro-Range Mermaid Makeup Brush (full size brush, value £???). The only thing that made me sad was that I couldn't find anything about them on the web, and they didn't provide a web address on the info card. It just says contact them for a discount code/to buy? Hmm. Either way, this is an absolutely stunning brush. The mermaid and unicorn brush trend is on fire right now, and I'm not going to lie, this will be displayed prominently in my brush collection. Mostly to make my sister really jealous.

Palmers Cocoa Butter Formula Eventone Suncare SPF 30

I found the next item a really handy thing to include- the Pamer's Cocoa Butter Formula Eventone Suncare SPF 30 (full size, 250ml, £9.99). This is a sun cream that offers high protection, leaves no white residue and is 'very water resistant' (as opposed to...a bit water resistant? I don't know). It contains the usual loveliness of a Palmer's product; cocoa butter, shea butter and coconut oil. Basically a triple whammy of moisturising goodness to keep your skin hydrated and happy. I'm hoping we have some more sun coming up and I can have an excuse to use this!

Popfeel Concealer FA03

This is a Popfeel Concealer in shade FA03 (no, I don't know either) (full size, 8g, £2.79). This is one of a range of 11 shades of concealers, which include some colour correcting ones like the greens and lilacs that are all the rage right now. I kind of think those would have been a better idea as they will be more useful to more skin tones. As it is, this one is far too dark for me to use as a concealer as my skin is very, very fair. However, I may try it as a contour shade. It's very liquid and blendable, I feel like you could build it up or use it lightly, so I think whether the shade is right or now it's probably quite a good product. I much prefer a wet, liquid-y concealer which you can build up to a thick chalky one which makes you look cakey.

Seacret Mineral Rich Clarifying Mud Mask

So this is a brand I've seen before, and back then I noticed it's priciness too. I think they must be doing the subscription box rounds right now. Here we have the  Seacret Hand Cream (sample size, 25ml, worth approx. £4.99). This is a very thick, luxurious hand cream, and smells very sweet and pleasant. It contains shea butter and is suitable for all skin types. I feel like this would be fine for your feet too. There was also a tiny sample of the Seacret Mineral Rich Clarifying Mud Mask, although when I say tiny I really mean it. It will probably cover my chin, but at least my chin will be nice and clean?

Pura Cosmetics Perfect Pout Fruits of the Forest Lip Balm

Here we have the Pura Cosmetics Perfect Pout Fruits of the Forest Lip Balm (full size, £2.50). This is made from natural ingredients and is cruelty free, which always gets a thumbs up from me. It smells really heavenly and is quite gloopy. It's almost like a lip mask- I love it. This is one of my favourite items in the box, which you wouldn't have thought looking at that unassuming little pot. It shows good things often come in unlikely packages.

Wax Melt Bakery Dolly Wax Melt

The final item in the box was the Dolly Wax Melt by the Wax Melt Bakery (full size, one melt, £1.30). This melt is unbelievably sweet smelling, it's like sweets in a little pot. I am really excited to melt this, although I'm going to wait a while for a special day when I need a lift. Wax Melt Bakery melts are made with 100% soy wax and are cruelty free and vegan friendly. There were various scents sent (heh) out this month but I'm really glad I got this one as it's so delicious smelling.

Final thoughts

Dollibox June 2017

Apart from the weird shade of the concealer, I actually really liked this box. It was a relief as sometimes when I try a box for the first time not knowing much about it, it can be an absolute stinker. Luckily, Dollibox's reputation was well earned- they sent out a lovely curation and anything mermaid themed is going to be ok with me.

If you would like to sign up to Dollibox, their link is here (disclosure- this is my personal referral link- if you join via this link it counts towards me earning a free box).

  1. This looks like a cool box! I do agree that having a concealer in a subscription box can be tricky because of skin tone variations. I have very pale skin as well so I feel like I always need the lightest shade in a range.

    1. Yes exactly, it makes it hard to match everyone up to the right shade doesn't it.

  2. I'm not really one for make-up, but I love that Mermaid Makeup Brush! Also, with my skin, that sun cream would come in very handy :)

  6. That makeup brush is the best thing ever! I want one now! And more sunscreen is always a good idea. Here's hoping you have a reason to use it soon! I love that so many of the things in this box were cruelty-free, too. There is just no reason that animals should suffer for human beauty, amirite?
