So Susan Lip Love- May 2017 Review

About the bag
Every month you will receive a bag filled with beauty items from the brand So Susan (typically 3-5 items). Sometimes these items will be So Susan's other brands, Jelly Pong Pong and Trifle Cosmetics. This bag is sent from the U.S.A. Everything So Susan and it's other brands sell is cruelty free!

Price
$20.95 per month (approx £16.20) with free shipping worldwide. You can buy a one off bag for $45.00 (approx £34.79).

What I got

I really liked the bag again this month, it's kind of a coral/orange/red (I'm so not good at describing colours) and it has the quote 'I'm a diamond you can't break me' on it which is quite cool.

First up this month is the Trifle Cosmetics Lockdown Luster Shimmery Shadow Binder ($25.00/approx. £19.18, full size 8ml). This is a beautiful eyeshadow primer with a lovely shimmer to it, a luster, if you will! It's enriched with cranberry seed oil and peach fruit extract for moisturising skin and you can definitely smell that fruity flavour. I would actually be tempted to use this in tiny amounts as a highlight as well as an eyeshadow primer. It will apparently lend your regular old boring eyeshadows a lovely shimmer.

Next is a summery product, the So Susan Sun Lounger Healthy Glow Powder Bronzer ($24.00/approx. £18.41, full size 2.5g). This bronzer is meant to give you a natural, sun kissed glow, and is ideal for contouring. I am very pale so this may be a tad dark for me as a plain old bronzer but used for contouring it may be ok. I love the dinky little compact it comes in, and with a mirror too.

Okay so the photo when completely wrong for this one. Apparently glittery lip products in shiny plastic weird shaped tubes are really hard to photograph and turn out weird, please excuse this temporary hitch! This is the Jelly Pong Pong Lumi Lip Iridescent Lip Topper (£16.44, full size, 8ml). It's meant to be used as a topper for your lip colour, and it gives it a iridescent shine and the colour shifts at different angles. This is infused with Alfalfa Flower Extract and Gold of Pleasure Seed Oil for keeping lips smooth and plump. I will definitely try this but it's kind of dazzling so I don't know how often I'd actually use it!

Swatch shades from L-R: 'Prism', 'Dream Goddess', 'Lagoon'.
Finally, this month we have yet another gorgeous palette. This time it's the So Susan Metamorphosis Radiance Enhancing Pro Palette ($39.00/approx. £29.92, full size). Okay, so I think this is for using as highlight, so contouring your face and such. But I have never seen a blue shade in this kind of palette before. I mean, wow, it's beautiful, but this is gonna take some practice if I don't want to go out looking like a disco smurf! The shades are extremely pigmented so you only need a light hand. The product is water resistant, and infused with Acetyl Glucosamine and Ginkgo Biloba Leaf Extract for reducing redness and brightening complexion. I really love this and can't wait to practice it on my sister (she loves it when I want to practice my makeup skills on her face for some reason, she's a happy guinea pig!)

Final thoughts
This was another strong month for So Susan. While I do think the palette carried the bag somewhat, the eye primer was good too and I do think it could be versatile as a highlight. I get that the diamond reference on the bag is why they went for super sparkly products inside so whether you're into bright shiny products or not this was a really clever curation. So Susan are showing that they know how to pair up their products. I would like to see a back to basics bag just once though- a foundation, mascara, lipstick combo maybe.

Do you see a product this month you think would suit you, or is it all a bit too dazzling for you? Let me know in the comments below, I'd love to hear from you!
