#GirlCrush Box- May 2017 Review

About the box
#GirlCrush is a monthly box that is aimed at women and sends a mix of fashion, beauty and lifestyle products tailored to your likes and personality- you fill in a questionnaire about yourself when you sign up. All the products have women bosses behind him, and the box is very much about female empowerment- 10% of each months box profits are donated to a women's charity, which is chosen by customers using a monthly newsletter poll. You can expect 6-8 products worth up to around £150 each month!

£20 a month inc. P&P, or £30 inc. P&P for a one off box.

What I got
Let me say straight up, I was blown away by this box. It reminds me a little bit of a box I have been covetous of for ages, which you can only get in the US- the Rachel Zoe Box Of Style. It also is a little bit like the Pop Sugar Must Have Box (also a US box).
The box itself is pretty huge, a lovely top opening white box with the quote 'Hello Beautiful'- I liked that it didn't have #GirlCrush branding on so I can easily use it for storage of other things.

I removed the huge amount of tissue paper so you could see the big bunch of stuff waiting in the box!

The first item was this Eva NYC Freshen Up Dry Shampoo (full size, 232.5ml, $14.00/approx £10.75). I couldn't find this available to buy in the UK which was a shame as this stuff smells lovely. It's suitable for all hair types, and contains rice starch to absorb oil, as well as Vitamin C and fatty acids for healthy hair. This is an absolutely huge can of dry shampoo so it will last me ages.

Another hair product, and one a little more familiar to me: Popband Tye Dye Hair Ties (full size, 5 bands, £8.00). I love these little bands, they are so pretty and I like to wear them on my wrist when I'm not wearing them in my hair. The colour theme of them really goes with the box theme of black and white colours. These bands are meant to be better for your hair as they are 'kink free' and don't rip and tear your hair like regular hair elastics.

These were tucked away in a little black gift pouch, which really intrigued me. They are the Bacoca Boutique Marble Ear Jackets (£18.00). The marble stud part actually separates from the ring part which I think means you can wear them both ways. I love the marble effect- I use it as a photography background quite a lot so it's cool to have some earrings the same pattern! Bacoca Boutique is a UK based company and has received a Theo Paphitis #SBS business award.

The packaging for this item was really glare-y so I had to take it out. This is the Prima Makeup Pressed Glitter in Liquid Gold (full size, $4.54/approx £3.49). I was confused about what this was at first- after some research it seems like it is a cosmetic glitter that can be used as an eyeshadow or lip glitter. It needs to be applied either with your fingertip or a Prima sponge applicator brush. I'm not sure if this is something I'd really use but I'll keep it for sure as you never know when you'll need some sparkle! This product is fragrance free, cruelty free and has high pigmentation.

Another beauty product now, the Kiss the Moon After Dark Face Oil Calm (sample?, full size £48.00). I'm not sure if this is full size, I think probably not as the one shown on the website looks a bit bigger and the bottle looks slightly different. This oil contains jasmine, roman chamomile, ylang ylang and sandalwood, which is their Calm signature blend. It also contains Rose hip seed oil which is loaded with Vitamin A to benefit your skin. I think you're meant to use this before bed. The scent is not really my thing, but I will probably give it a go. The whole brand is based around sleep and I would love to explore more of it although the price point of the products may make that difficult!

The final 'beauty' item is this intriguing Diamond Whites Black Edition Mint Paste (full size, 80ml, £9.99). I have seen loads of bloggers talking about this new charcoal toothpaste craze, so I am glad to finally be able to try it, and boy am I glad it's mint flavour as I detest any other flavour in a toothpaste! You just use it the same as any other toothpaste, the only difference is how it looks really, so don't be put off. There's not a great deal of information about the product on their website or the packaging which is a shame as I'd love to know more about the brand and products. I will be using this straight away anyway as I am just running out of my current toothpaste.

The final product was a lifestyle item, these Erin Condren Compliment Cards (full size, 10 cards, $5.00/approx £3.84). You can hand one of these cards to anyone you know who needs cheering up or needs to hear a message on the card. I think I will use them to send in happy mail to friends. Erin Condren is an American brand which is most known for their planners.

They actually included this coupon, which gives you $25 off a $50 spend on the Erin Condren website (or in store if you happen to be in the USA). However, I don't really want to be hit with a huge customs charge so I'll probably not use this, unless my friend in America can use it. It was a nice thought though as I had a look and the Erin Condren stuff is really lovely.

Final thoughts
As I said at the beginning of the post, this box blew me away. It's a really varied and full curation of items. There are no filler items, everything is interesting and can be used by me in some way (I'm not including the money off coupon). I will definitely be sticking with them to see what next month brings. I was also pleased to see that they do vary your box depending on each person- my box wasn't the same as that of a few bloggers who posted about their contents. I'm hoping I will see #GirlCrush using my questionnaire answers as time goes on to personalise my box contents.
